If you’re lucky enough to have a beach house you’re equally as lucky to have the opportunity to adorn it in all of your favorite beach home accents. Bringing a serene coastal vibe into you home isn’t that hard to do and the right beach house accents can make all the difference. Here is a list of 9 accents you can easily find and implement.
This Post is all about Beach Home Accents
1. Beach Town Thrift Stores
Beach town thrift stores are a treasure trove! When you are in a beach town first and foremost the best place to find beach home accents are thrift stores. Here you will find a literal treasure trove of accents and its especially great for those on a budget.
2. Seashells: The Quintessential Beach Accent
Obviously seashells and sea glass are a cornerstone accent in all beach homes but its how you arrange them the makes them truly stand out. My favorite way is to place them in clear glass jars or rustic wooden bowls. For an extra touch, place sand at the bottom of the jars to nestle your seashells in. Place them on coffee tables, shelves, or mantels. Seashell hunting is fun but I’ve found it easier to buy them in bulk. Find them here.
3. Capiz Shell Chandeliers
Capiz Shell Chandeliers are a truly unique beach home accents and they’re by far my favorite. They have a special iridescent glow that will illuminate your space beautifully. These light fixtures not only provide a warm ambiance but also add a touch of oceanic elegance to any room. Find my favorites here and here.
4. Maritime Clocks
Maritime clocks are a beach home accent that bring a nostalgic err to mind. These clocks, often encased in polished wood or brass, carry the essence of centuries-old maritime tradition into your living space. Place one as a centerpiece on your wall or mantel. I absolutely love this one.
5. Nautical Lanterns
Nautical lanterns evoke the spirit of a lighthouse keeper on holding a light while climbing the winding staircase of a lighthouse. These can be placed as a showpiece or an actual functional hallway light.
6. Rope Mirror
A mirror framed with thick nautical rope not only adds function but brings in a strong coastal element. These mirrors can serve as the focal point in a room, reflecting light and making your space feel bigger and brighter. DIY tip: Purchase a plain mirror and fasten it with rope from your local hardware store.
7. A DIY Rustic Headboard
There is really no need to buy a four post bed. Some worn wood, paint and sandpaper can make a perfect looking beach worn headboard.
Here we actually made this coastal boho headboard and simply screwed it into the wall. It looked like part of the bed and doing it this way made the project so much easier. Guests at our condo always commented on how it was such a nice beach home accent.
8. A Nautical Rope Doormat
A nautical rope doormat sets the tone to the entryway of your beach home. This doormat made of thick sturdy rope is sure to provide a durable and practical solution for sandy feet. I love the intricate weaves and knots that pay homage to the skills of sailors.
9. Wooden Seagull Figurines
A set of strategically placed wooden seagull figurines are an excellent way to bring the natural world into your beach home.
Placing these birds on mantels, bookshelves, or as part of a nautical display brings a piece of the beach’s wildlife indoors. To me they have a perfect coastal aesthetic appeal and these wooden seagull figurines are a poignant tribute to the coastal lifestyle and the wildlife that embodies it.
Conclusion
In weaving together these beach home accents of maritime clocks, nautical hurricane lanterns, to rope doormats and wooden seagull figurines—we’ve crafted a space that contributes to a wonderful narrative of coastal living.
